Homeless kids don’t often have the chance to shake the stigma associated with living in poverty and simply play the day away.
But that’s what happened recently at a summer camp near Willow River.
Camp Heartland is celebrating 20 years of “making a difference” with a new season and a new group of kids.
It’s first summer session hosted over 60 kids from the Twin Cities.
It was an opportunity to try new things like fishing, canoeing and swimming.
For many of these kids it was their first adventure “up north” and an experience they won’t soon forget.
