We are excited and thankful every year that 10 students from Ohio State University’s Buck-I-SERV program and an adviser make the trip to Willow River for an “alternative winter break” – a week of service where they help with facility upgrades, spend a day working with kids at our partner agency People Serving People, and help with program preparations. This year, OSU has already begun transforming an old storage building into a multi-use program space. They will put up walls, paint, add shelves, and even come up with a name for the refurbished building!
And OSU’s service extends beyond the winter – in total, Buckeyes will visit Willow River three times this year for a total of three weeks of service. We can’t express our thanks to OSU enough for the wonderful gift of their time and energy!
