Who can come to Camp Heartland, Pacific Heartland & Birch Family Alliance?
Camp Heartland welcomes children ages 7 to 15 from across the nation to our summer camping program who either have HIV/AIDS or who have an immediate family member who has or had HIV/AIDS. Entire families living with HIV/AIDS from the New York City area are invited to attend Birch Family Alliance. Youth ages 16-21 living with or affected by HIV/AIDS may participate in the Youth Retreat program offered each year. In addition to our programs for children affected by HIV/AIDS, through our Heartland Partners Programs, Camp Heartland operates camp sessions for children who experience foster care, grief, homelessness, poverty and other difficult circumstances.

Camp Heartland & Birch Family Alliance create a year-round community designed for children, youth and families to build skills, friendships and memories that give them support, courage and hope throughout the year. As a part of the Birch Family Alliance program, One Heartland provides home visits by qualified social workers to camp families throughout the year to help cope with the daily hardships of HIV/AIDS. Camp Heartland helps campers maintain their connection to the camp community through Year-Round Support. Camp Heartland & Birch Family Alliance are stable resources to campers and their families no matter what family changes take place during the year.
Where is Camp Heartland, Camp Pacific Heartland & Birch Family Alliance?
One Heartland owns a camp facility in Willow River, Minnesota, just 90 minutes north of the Twin Cities. During the summer, the One Heartland Center is buzzing with campers and counselors. However, during the off-season, the One Heartland Center is available for rental for meetings, reunions, conferences, retreats, and much more. Camp Pacific Heartland and Camp Hollywood Heart take place at a beautiful facilitated in Malibu, CA that One Heartland rents each summer. The facility overlooks the ocean and provides the opportunity for campers to rub elbows with movie and TV stars while they attend Camp. Additionally, One Heartland operates the Birch Family Alliance program, which includes two weeks of camping for families living with HIV/AIDS at a rented facility in Carmel, NY.
How much does it cost the families to send their children to camp?
One Heartland programs and services are provided free of charge to campers and their families. Families who are able, are asked to pay a $50 registration fee per child or $100 maximum fee for multiple children. A sliding fee scale is available for families in need of scholarship or flexible payment schedule.
What is the cost to One Heartland, per camper?
One Heartland must raise $3,000 to provide each client with a week of summer camp along with year-round support. One week of summer camp including food, staffing, medical and psychological care, travel and programming costs approximately $1,500. Each summer One Heartland welcomes nearly 1,000 children, youth and family members to summer camp. An additional 200 children and youth participate in Camp Heartland's year-round programs. Since many of our campers live outside of Minnesota or California, One Heartland flies children in from over 40 states to enjoy a fun, carefree week of Camp. This is our biggest expense!
