Seasonal Kitchen Manager
One Heartland, a national non-profit organization enhancing the lives of children impacted by HIV/AIDS seeks a highly responsible team player for our Seasonal Kitchen Manager. The individual must possess a high level of professional competency including: organization, communication, supervisory and general computer skills. Responsibilities include providing nutritious, delicious and attractive meals to clients, guests, & staff; working closely with our wholesale food vendor; large scale menu planning and food preparation for camp and rental groups. Desired candidate will have experience operating large kitchen equipment.
ServSafe Kitchen Manager Certification is required.
This is a full time 3 month “seasonal” position running from June - August 2009 in Willow River, MN. Compensation commensurate with experience.

Grants Intern
One Heartland seeks a Grants Intern to assist in maintaining and growing support from national corporate, foundation and government grantors to meet agency goals. This internship position, under the direction of the Director of Development, will research current and prospective funders; prepares funding requests; maintains record-keeping and tracking systems; and provides writing, editing, and research support for new grant development. Internship based in our Minneapolis office.
Looking for a candidate with the following:
- Excellent writing ability with adaptable writing style
- Ability to research, understand, and interpret a broad range of social action issues
- Detail orientation and ability to meet multiple deadlines
- Fluency in word processing and spreadsheets
- Available for 15-20 hours/week. Some projects may be done remotely

Program Interns
One Heartland, a national non-profit organization enhancing the lives of children impacted by HIV/AIDS seeks two highly responsible team players to be Program Interns. These are one year internships beginning in June 2009. A 20 hour per week commitment is required for the first three months (June ’09 – August ‘09). The remaining nine months (September ’09 – May ’10) require an eight hour per week time commitment.
Internship responsibilities include: communicating with our families prior to and following our summer Programs; coordinating Program travel days at the MSP International Airport; administrative filing & client information management; planning and implementation assistance with our National Youth Retreat Program; managing Program evaluation data collection; assistance with various other Program needs.
Desired candidates will have a high school diploma or be enrolled in a related area undergraduate college program; excellent written and oral communication skills; excellent computer skills with the ability to quickly adapt to new programs; demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail; demonstrated ability to work within a team; must understand & comply with organization’s confidentiality policy; openness and willingness to interact and advocate for children whose lives have been affected by HIV/AIDS.

Dance Your Heart Out (DYHO) Leadership Opportunities
We currently have multiple openings for director positions on our Dance Your Heart Out (DYHO) planning committee. These directors lead our efforts planning one of the Twin Cities most exciting fundraising events at the Mall of America.
These positions provide an excellent opportunity to lead a team of volunteers and manage the major components of a large event. Planning Committee Directors play a key role in decision making for this exciting multi-faceted, twelve hour annual event in the Mall of America’s Best Buy Rotunda.
This role is particularly suited for someone looking to get involved in the nonprofit community in a meaningful way. A role on our DYHO sub committee is perfect for students and professionals alike and looks great on any resume. Our event committees will include nearly 100 amazing individuals who work together for a year, learning from each other and developing a powerful network.
This position comes with a $100 stipend pending the achievement of planning committee members’ event goals.
Director roles on the committee include but are not limited to: fundraising director, sponsorship director, director of volunteers, director of revenue enhancement, program director, stage manager, dancer relations director, recruitment director, operations director, morale director and catering director. At this point in the process we’re accepting resumes to select candidates with general committee potential. However, feel free to highlight any relevant experience or desire to secure a position in the aforementioned areas. The next step in the process will be to assign committee roles.Required skills for all committee positions:
- Experience leading a team (from student orgs to sales teams) required. Academic leadership study is a valid form of experience.
- Some experience in communications, fundraising, sales or marketing is highly preferred.
- Proven ability to excel in a team environment.
- Willingness to try new things as well brainstorm and implement creative solutions.
- Detail oriented, proven ability to stick to a timeline, experience managing multiple deadlines and proven track record of reliability.
